You Need Post Ceremony Photos, Here’s Why.

Why do you need post ceremony photos? Let’s dive into it!

I’m going to lay out a few different points and go into detail on each one, because this is something I feel is really important!

  • The tenderness is unmatched
Right after you say “I do” something shifts, it hits, you are truly MARRIED to your best friend! I find that just naturally couples are more tender towards each other post ceremony. The emotions are high and the stress is gone, you did it! This photographs beautifully and makes for some amazing candid shots.
  • I have room to get creative.
Especially if you choose to do a first look, we will have probably already spent a little time getting the bride and groom “must shots”. Which means with a second time slot for portraits I can get creative and bring in playing with the bouquet and veil! As well as the surroundings to bring in the artsy creative shots!

  • Softer light
Often first looks/pre ceremony photos are taken mid day, which means harsher light. Post ceremony the sun has had time to creep towards the horizon giving a glow that can’t be recreated mid day. The lower the sun is, the more glow and golden hues.

  • It builds in some alone time
Right after the ceremony is a great time to just be together, no guests pushing around to give hugs. Just you and your spouse. Well… I will be there too, however I do my best to give you space. I’ll let you walk together to our location and unless you want me right there, I’ll trail behind and capture some genuine photos of you two walking/interacting! There will still be some directed poses but in a soft, no pressure way!
  • You don’t have to miss cocktail hour
Sometimes couples choose to not do post ceremony photos because they don’t want to miss cocktail hour or make their guests wait. But here’s the thing, you can have both! I am super efficient with posing and photos so we can get what we need in 15min! This allows you the best of both worlds.
  • Why not?
Your wedding day only comes once, why not schedule more time for photos! The day flies by, photos are the only way to truly remember exactly how things were. I have yet to hear of a couple regretting taking this time. In fact, I regret not doing this at our wedding!

Well, have I convinced you to schedule in some time for portraits after your ceremony??? I sure hope I have, it’s one of my favorite parts of the day!

While not every session may be able to make it to the blog, I try to add as many as I can! You can even find some old ones from years ago if you look hard enough!
